Client

Teddy Kramer, a visionary entrepreneur and former WeWork director, founded Neon to transform co-working spaces into community hubs that encourage collaboration and creativity

The Challenge

Teddy approached TowerHouse Studio with a unique challenge: to develop a mobile app and a cloud platform that would serve as the technological backbone for Neon's innovative co-working concept.

Objectives

The mobile app was designed to offer seamless internet access, while the cloud platform aimed to connect with specialized hardware to ensure smooth operations. Both were critical in bringing Teddy's vision for Neon to life.

The process

The journey to bring Teddy's vision to life was a multi-faceted process that began with meticulous planning and extended into agile development.

The Outcome

The first Neon Space was successfully launched in San Francisco, along with the mobile app. Within two weeks, both the space and the app have started attracting a steady flow of new and returning customers, validating Teddy's innovative concept and our technological contributions.

Technical Analysis and Planning

We kicked off the project with an in-depth technical analysis. Our team methodically drafted sequence and architectural diagrams to gain a comprehensive understanding of the requirements and hardware intricacies. This bird's-eye view allowed us to set clear, detailed milestones linked to specific dates, serving as our roadmap for the project.

Development Process

Utilizing the Scrum framework, we engaged in an agile development process that included daily standups and weekly demos with Teddy. This iterative approach not only kept the project on track but also allowed us to adapt swiftly when we encountered hardware-related challenges.

The Hardware: Cisco Meraki

For this project, we chose Cisco Meraki hardware, known for its cloud-managed IT solutions. This strategic choice simplified the process of managing network access permissions and allowed us to remotely monitor and manage network issues, thereby enhancing Neon's functionality.
